The steel containing the least amount of alloy steel components is typically considered a carbon steel plate. Carbon steel plates have various grades depending on the strength & carbon content. There are plates made of a low, medium, and high-carbon steel — the strength and durability of the plate increase with the amount of carbon present. There are additional subcategories based on usage, thickness, and formation process.

Plain carbon steel or carbon steel refers to steel whose carbon mass fraction is less than 2.11% and does not contain specially added alloying elements. Carbon steel is also called carbon steel, which refers to an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of Wc less than 2.11%. Carbon steel generally contains a small amount of silicon, manganese, sulphur, and phosphorus in addition to carbon. It is a flat steel that is poured with molten steel and pressed after cooling. Carbon steel can be divided into three types: carbon structural steel, carbon tool steel and free-cutting structural steel according to its purpose. Low carbon steel plate is mainly used in construction, machinery manufacturing, container manufacturing, shipbuilding, bridge construction, some parts of tractors and welding components, etc.
